KINGS OF BOSPOROS. Asander, Circa 47-17 BC. Stater (Gold, 19 mm, 8.19 g, 12 h), regnal year ς = 6 = 42/1 BC. Diademed head of Asander to right. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ ΑΣΑΝΔΡΟΥ Nike striding left on prow of galley, holding wreath in her right hand and palm in her left; in the inner left field, ς (retrograde). Anokhin 229 var. = Frolova 11 var. = MacDonald 196 var. = RPC I 1848 var. (date not retrograde, and with a monogram below). An unpublished variety. Very clear and attractive. Obverse very slightly double struck, otherwise, extremely fine.
