PHOENICIA. Arados. Autonomous issues, 138/7-44/43 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 15.00 g, 12 h), year ΟΡ = 170 = 90/89. Turreted, veiled, and draped bust of Tyche to right. Rev. ΑΡΑΔΙΩΝ Nike standing to left, holding aplustre in her right hand and palm branch with her left; in the field to left, ΟΡ / aleph / ΜΣ; all within a laurel wreath. BMC 225. Cohen 772. Duyrat 3400. Beautifully toned, very well-struck and most attractive, an exceptional example. Good extremely fine.
From a European collection, but with a very old collection patina suggesting that it has been in private ownership for at least a generation.
