EGYPT. Alexandria. Trajan, 98-117. Drachm (Bronze, 36.10 mm, 21.68 g, 12 h), year ΙΓ = 13 = 109-110. ΑΥΤ ΤΡΑΙΑΝ C - EΒ ΓEΡΜ ΔΑΚΙΚ Laureate bust of Trajan to right, with aegis on his far shoulder. Rev. L IΓ A sphinx-like composite creature, the god Tutu, with a serpent tail, the body of a lion, the head of a crocodile emerging from its chest, and, on its shoulders, a human head lwearing a modified hemhem crown, treading to right on a serpent. Dattari (Savio) 1180. Geissen -. K&G 27.271 corr. (illustration shows bust a, but it is described as having bust g). RPC III 4432. Rare, and with an extraordinary reverse type. Dark reddish-brown patina. Rather rough surfaces. Good very fine.
