Vespasian, 69-79. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 3.13 g, 5 h), Rome, 21 December 69 - early 70. IMP CAESΛR VESPΛSIΛNVS ΛVG Laureate head of Vespasian to right. Rev. IVDAEA On the left, military trophy, to right, Judaea, veiled and draped, seated right on ground in attitude of mourning, her knees drawn up and her head resting in her left hand, with her left elbow propped on her left knee. BMCRE 35. BN 24. Hendon 6509. RIC 2. A particularly lovely example, beautifully toned, very well-struck, of fine style and remarkably fine. Some tiny marks, otherwise, good extremely fine.
From a European collection, acquired from Tradart in Brussels in 1989, but clearly from a considerably earlier collection.
