THESSALY. Larissa. Circa 479-460 BC. Drachm (Silver, 15.5 mm, 5.08 g, 12 h). Horse with head lowered, grazing to left; above, cicada to left. Rev. ΛΑΡΙ-ϞΑΙΟ-Ν Sandal of Jason to left with double-ax above; all within shallow incuse square. BCD Thessaly II 129 (this coin). HGC 4, 393. Extremely rare. Perhaps the first issue of Larissa. With a remarkably well-struck and well-centered obverse. Nicely toned. About extremely fine.
