INDIA. Datia. Gold Medallic Nazarana 1/2 Mohur, ND (1907-48). Govind Singh (under George VI as Emperor). NGC Unc Details--Edge Damage.
KMX-1; Fr-1104. Obverse: Bust of the Maharaja facing 3/4th right; Reverse: Arms and supporters. A charming and seldom seen piece from Datia, this example likely has its genesis in the 1940s, mirroring a trend from other princely states like Bikinir that produced restrikes and medallic types. This example bears no evidence of circulation, though there is some evidence of edge damage. RARELY seen and quite enigmatic, this type is certain to excite specialists, as this cataloger has only seen a handful of examples of this type ever offered. As such, this piece is certain to be much contested. To view all items from the Yashoda N. Singh Collection, click here.
