Republic silver "Virgin Mary" Medal 1946-Dated MS65 NGC, 43mm. An imposing medal, showing Gem Mint State surfaces, dressed in a gunmetal finish. With a design inspired by the 1648 "Conceição" (600 Reis) type, this elusive medal was supposedly struck in 1947 to commemorate the 300th anniversary of Our Lady of Conception becoming Patron of João VI's reign. We were able to locate a single example, struck in gold, with an alleged mintage of 35 pieces.
