Julia Domna (wife of S. Severus) Æ 32mm of Hieropolis, Phrygia(?). AD 193-211. IOYΛIA CЄBACTH, draped bust to right / IЄPOΠOΛЄITΩN, Serapis seated to left, holding sceptre, tripod to feet at left. Apparently unpublished in standard reference works. 17.95g, 32mm, 6h.

Near Extremely Fine. A seemingly new and unpublished type for this empress and this city.

From the inventory of a UK dealer.

The attribution to the Phrygian Hieropolis as opposed to that in Syria is based on the style of the letter forms compared to other coins from this area.
