ABBASID: AE fals (2.39g), Fars, ND, A-, cf. Zeno-114849, countermarked mintname within incuse oval on the reverse of a fals of Balkh mint dated AH14(9), A-319, additionally with a later-made hole in the center, clear mintnames, pleasing patina despite some porosity, VF on Good host, RRR. This is the first example we have encountered of an Abbasid copper with the Fars countermark. The mint of Fars would not produce any fulus until more than half a century later in AH205 (A-N321).
