TURKEY: Mahmud II, 1808-1839, LOT of about 1,000 billon paras, type KM-594, part of the 9th series of his coinage, struck at Kostantiniye and known dated with regnal years 26-32; including a small number or earlier paras of Mahmud II, a few of his last akçes, and just a few contemporary paras of Mist (Egypt); mostly EF condition but most are weakly struck as is the norm for this almost worthless denomination, struck at a theoretically weight of 0.15g to 0.16g, only about 17% silver; retail value something like $3000, lot of about 1000 pieces. A group of about 70 earlier akçes, all holed and in low grades, and thus of little value, are not included in the lot estimate.
