TENASSERIM-PEGU: Anonymous, 17th-18th century, cast large tin coin (41.77g), Robinson-, 69.5mm; mythical hintha bird facing left, with tail rising above and holding a leaf branch in its beak, 6 pellets below the beak & 9 pellets beneath the tail // stylized Burmese text, based on Robinson text B1, but with square Burmese letters, one additional symbol above and one below, unpublished with 8-point star at lower right; couple tiny stains on both sides, nonetheless perfectly preserved, choice AU, RR. Several examples of this type have been sold in our Auctions 33-39.
