PERSIA, Achaemenid Empire. Time of Artaxerxes II to Artaxerxes III, circa 375-340 BC. Siglos (Silver, 15 mm, 5.49 g), Lydo-Milesian standard, Sardes. Persian king or hero, wearing spiky crown and with quiver over his shoulder, in kneeling/running stance to right, holding dagger in his right hand and bow in his left. Rev. Rectangular incuse punch. BMC Arabia pl. XXVII, 19. Carradice Type IV, Group C and pl. XIV, 46. Sunrise 33-36. Lightly toned and very well centered. Good very fine.
