Rev. T-Q / ROMA The Dioscuri, each holding spear, on horseback galloping right; below horses, Macedonian shield. Babelon (Quinctia) 2. Crawford 267/1. RBW 1078. Sydenham 505. Lustrous and sharp. Tiny edge split, otherwise, good extremely fine.


The Macedonian shield on the reverse refers to the moneyer's famous ancestor, Titus Quinctius Flamininus (circa 228-174 BC), winner of the Battle of Cynoscephalae in 197 BC against the Macedonian king Philip V (221-179 BC).
