Anonymous, circa 265 BC. Didrachm (Silver, 20 mm, 7.22 g, 6 h), Rome. Head of youthful Hercules to right, wearing taenia, lion skin tied around neck and with club over his right shoulder. Rev. ROMANO She-wolf standing right, head turned back to left, suckling the twins Romulus and Remus. Crawford 20/1. HN Italy 287. RBW 23. Sydenham 6. A beautiful piece, very attractively toned and of fine style. The reverse a bit weak, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
