Caracalla, Caesar, 196-198. Denarius (Silver, 18 mm, 3.79 g, 12 h), Laodicea ad Mare, 197-198. M AVR ANTON CAES PONTIF Bare-headed, draped and cuirassed bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. SECVRITAS PERPETVA Minerva standing front with aegis on breast, head to left, placing her right hand on shield set on ground and holding inverted spear in her left. BMC 459. Cohen 566. RIC 330. An exceptional coin, beautifully toned and with a wonderful eastern style portrait. The reverse struck very slightly off center, otherwise, virtually as struck.
