Elagabalus, 218-222. Denarius (Silver, 19 mm, 2.94 g, 12 h), uncertain mint in the East, 218-219. ANTONINVS PIVS FEL AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus to right, seen from behind. Rev. PONT MAX T P II COS II Mars advancing left, holding branch in his right hand and trophy in his left. BMC -. Cohen -, cf. 237 (TR P instead of T P). RIC -, cf. 172 (same). Thirion -, cf. 331 (same). An extremely rare variety of a very rare type. Lustrous and exceptionally well preserved. Virtually as struck.
