Elagabalus, 218-222. Sestertius (Orichalcum, 28 mm, 19.12 g, 12 h), Rome, 220. IMP CAES M AVR ANTONINVS PIVS AVG Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Elagabalus to right, seen from behind. Rev. P M TR P III COS III P P / S - C Sol advancing left, raising his right hand in salute and holding whip in his left; in field to left, six-pointed star. BMC 424 corr. (bust type). Cohen 156. RIC 300. Thirion 163. An unusually well preserved example with a lovely portrait and an excellent pedigree. Minor smoothing, otherwise, about extremely fine.
