Gordian III, 238-244. Antoninianus (Silver, 21 mm, 4.99 g, 1 h), Antiochia, 239-240. IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian III to left. Rev. PAX AVGVSTI Mars standing front, head to left, holding branch in his raised right hand and inverted spear in his left. Bland 27 (one example). Cohen -. Michaux 503 (this coin illustrated). RIC 191. Extremely rare. An exceptional example of this interesting issue with a magnificent portrait. The reverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, nearly extremely fine.
