Maxentius, 307-312. Follis (Silvered bronze, 25 mm, 6.90 g, 7 h), Rome, 308/9-310. IMP C MAXENTIVS P F AVG Laureate head of Maxentius to right. Rev. CONSERV VRB SVAE / RBQ Roma seated facing within hexastyle temple, head to left, holding globe in her right hand and scepter in her left; at her side, shield; in pediment, Jupiter, holding scepter in his left hand, and Hercules, holding club with his right hand, standing facing, flanked by giants; on each end of architrave, winged Genius standing front and holding open wreath. Drost 89c/9 (this coin, illustrated on pl. 31). RIC 208 var. (differing reverse details). A sharp and attractively silvered example with a wonderful reverse. Very minor doubling on the reverse, otherwise, good extremely fine.
