William I 'the Conqueror' (1066-1087), 'Sword Type', Penny, 1077-1080, Shaftesbury, Godesbrand, crowned and draped bust facing,l sword over shoulder, rev. + GOD[E]BRAND ON SEF, cross potent over voided quadrilateral fleury, 1.25g, 6h (North 846; BMC 427; Spink 1255), slightly bent, otherwise of good fabric, richly toned, a bold very fine, very rare.
