Fourth crowned head of Elizabeth II facing right; IRB below; ELIZABETH · II · D · G REG · F · D · 2001. Design by Ian Rank-Broadley. / Left-facing effigy of Victoria within stylised railway lines set at an angle to form her initial V, below the letters 'E PE' are the remnants of the words ONE PENNY signifying the use of this effigy on the first British postal stamps (the "Penny Black"); on both sides of the 'V' cast iron structures from Crystal Palace where The Great Exhibition of 1851 was held; '5 POUNDS' to left and anniversary dates '1901 * 2001' above. Design by Mary Milner-Dickens. Edge milled.
Accompanied by 20 pound note, bearing a unique commemorative VR10 cypher that will not be produced for general circulation, and a serial number between 000001 and 000250. Produced by Bank of England.
Comes with the original card sleeve as issued by the Mint.
