REPRODUCTIONS, CRETE. Knossos. Circa 300-270 BC. Struck "AR Stater" (22mm, 8.59 g, 9h). Derived from a British Museum electrotype (trace of [MB] on reverse). Head of Hera left, wearing polos decorated with palmettes, triple-pendant earring, and necklace / Labyrinth; to left, A above javelin point; to right, P above thunderbolt, KNΩΣIΩ[N] below. Cf. Head, Guide, III B, 39 (for electrotype); cf. GPCG pl. 24, 54 (for prototype). Toned, areas of green deposits, area of disturbance behind head. As made.

The area of disturbance behind the head (not visible on the prototype), suggests that an identification mark was removed in creating the die for this reproduction. A similar attempt to remove the (MB) mark on the reverse.
