ATTICA, Athens. Circa 400/390-353 BC. AR Tetradrachm (23mm, 17.18 g, 8h). Helmeted head of Athena right, with profile eye / Owl standing right, head facing; olive spray and crescent to left; all within incuse square. Kroll 15a-b; HGC 4, 1598. Toned, with some dark patches on obverse, a few minor scratches. Good VF. Attractive transitional type.

This coin is from the relatively brief early 4th century issue that bridges the gap between the late frontal eye owls and the pi-style coinage, both of which were considerably large in scale compared to the present issue.
