Edward I. 1272-1307. AR long cross penny. 1.28 gm. 19 mm. Berwick upon Tweed (ca 1296-1344). Class 2c. Wide faced bust of Edward facing, a pellet on the breast / VILL ABE REV VICI in the four quarters formed by a long cross. S. 1415 (Blunt Type IVc). Cf. SCBI 39 (North, Edwardian English...)1131. Very Fine; minor irregularities. Scarce.

These were local dies. Image 4 on the Blunt (Num Chron, 1931, Part 1) plate II is very similar to this piece. North does not show a clear example of the type. IVc also has a normal "N" in "DNS."
