Gerard van Loon. Medallic History of the Low Countries. This was originally published in Dutch and in French in the 19th century in a large format and was difficult to find (particularly in French). It has now been translated into English with photographic plates of the detailed line image engravings of the original editions and some modern photographic color plates have been added. The set is in four volumes, 1551-1602, 1602-1667, 1667-1691, 1691-1716. (Many English medals are also cross-listed in van Loon.) This set of four volumes with nearly 2000 pages is currently available online for just over $280 (from Belgium). (This is a new set that UPS left out in the rain even though there is a sign indicating where parcels should be left.) Volume I shows a bit of water staining (a slight darkening of the red), a lightly wrinkled back cover and some pages with wrinkling around the edges, Vol II shows a bit of stain and a slightly curled cover. Vol III has some water stain on the cover. Vol. IV is like Vol. I though the front cover that has the wrinkles and stain. My set was replaced by the publishers.
