Henry VIII (1509-1547), Testoon, third coinage (1544-1547), debased issue, facing bust of older King within beaded circle, cross on crown breaks circle, initial mark pellet in annulet both sides, 8 type legend, rev crown over Tudor Rose, crowned h to left and crowned R to right, slipped trefoil stops both sides, 6.81g (N 1841; S 2365). A little weak in parts of legend, flan crack, some porosity to surfaces both sides, two parallel hairline scratches on reverse, some large pits of corrosion to left side of rose, some circular abrasion evident to eyes of portrait, otherwise bold fine with a dark tone.
