Everhard Meyster and the Amersfoort boulder, Copper Jeton, 1661, town arms, rev boulder between torches, 34.5mm (Dugn 4178; vL II, 492, 2); others (3), Charles II of Spain and the building of the Citadel at Charleroi, 1667, bust right (Dugn 4237); Charles II, Bureau des Finances, 1672, king on horseback (Dugn 4294); another, 1675, bust right (Dugn 4347). First extremely fine, others very fine. (4)
As the result of a bet Everhard Meyster had a large boulder dragged into Amersfoort where, the following year, it was placed on a pedestal. After ten years the townsfolk decided to bury it again and it was forgotten until 1859 when workmen re-discovered it. In 1903 it was again placed on a pedestal on which it still stands
