The date implies the medal was for the Balkan Wars, the Treaty of Lausanne was signed on 18 October and the Balkan League invaded Western Turkey on the 19 October. Prince Nicholas helped to organise the 1896 Olympic Games in Athens and served as president of the Sub-Committee for Shooting.
