One of the choristers at the Abbey in Bury was elected each year to carry out the role of a Bishop from St. Nicholas' Day till Innocents Day (6th to 28th December). He would bless the people, collect money from them and preach a sermon on Innocents Day. It is not known how the tokens were used.
