PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Ptolemy I Soter, 323-283 B.C. AR Tetradrachm (16.87), Sidon Mint, dated RY 12 of Abdalonymos (322/1 B.C.). NGC EF, Strike: 5/5 Surface: 3/5.
Pr-3498. Struck in the name of Alexander III (the Great) of Macedon. Obverse: Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin; Reverse: Zeus seated left on throne, holding eagle and scepter; "M" (date) in left field; ΣΙ below throne. This attractively struck example from Ptolemaic Egypt displays very little evidence of technical wearing on the surfaces and provides a strong example of the type.

Estimate: $300 - $500
