PTOLEMAIC EGYPT. Kleopatra VII Thea Neotera, 51-30 B.C. BI Tetradrachm (14.50 gms), Alexandreia Mint, dated RY 3 (50/49 B.C.). NGC Ch VF, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 3/5.
Svor-1818; SNG Cop-399. Obverse: Diademed head of Ptolemy I right, wearing aegis around neck; Reverse: Eagle with closed wings standing left on thunderbolt; to left, LΓ (date) above Isis crown; to right, palm frond above ΠA. Some typical striking weakness nearer the peripheries is noted, but this example from the end of Ptolemaic Egypt was issued just a few years before the birth of Caesarion, the son of Kleopatra and Julius Caesar.
