MAURICE TIBERIUS, 582-602. AV Solidus (4.41 gms), Constantinople Mint, 4th Officina, 583/4-602. NGC MS, Strike: 4/5 Surface: 2/5. Wrinkled, Clipped.
S-478. Obverse: Helmeted, draped, and cuirassed bust facing, holding globus cruciger; Reverse: Angel standing facing, holding staff and globus cruciger; Δ//CONOB. Though this example has some of the commonly encountered problems often seen on Byzantine gold (a wavy flan and some light clipping), the strike remains attractive and the golden hue shimmers an sheens on the unworn surfaces. A good, high technical grade example of the type.
Estimate: $500 - $750
