MdP III, p. 388. By S.-E. Vernier. Dimensions: 50mm x 70mm; Weight: 105.17 gms. Obverse: Nude female kneeling left, holding pickaxe and unearthed kylix; shovel and basket with other discoveries in background to left; in foreground, facing bust and coins emerging from the dirt / Mostly blank field, with a slightly recessed area in the lower half revealing Doric column between facing bust of Athena with triple-crested Attic helmet and Pharonic bust left. Edge: [cornucopia] BRONZE. Despite the noted lacquering, an always popular type featuring Art Nouveau stylings with the backdrop of archaeology and Egyptology.
