GUATEMALA. Real, 1790/89-NG M. Nueva Guatemala Mint. Charles IV. NGC VF Details--Obverse Scratch.
KM-42. Two-year type with the bust of Charles III, but in the name of Charles IV (ordinal IV). Though not indicated on the NGC insert, the last two digits of the date of very clearly "90/89". This moderately worn minor exhibits a bold even strike with plenty of remaining details that are complemented by light attractive gray patina with areas of richer coloration amongst the devices. Close inspection of the obverse reveals several small surface scratches, long since toned over matching the rest of the coin. Despite its shortcomings this handsome little silver coin is quite charming.
