GUATEMALA. Silver Constitution Medallic 2 Reales, 1812. ANACS EF 45 Details--Cleaned.
Fon-7195; Prober-210. Struck to commemorate the Political Constitution of Spain, published in Cadiz in 1812. Obverse: Crowned arms of Guatemala City, legend around; Reverse: Radiant open book representing the constitution, legend around. This decently preserved example displays light attractive gray tone with richer coloration amongst the devices and protected areas. Close inspection of the obverse reveals evidence of a past cleaning and what appears a disturbance in the right fields that has been somewhat smoothed. Despite its shortcoming this charming little medal is pleasing to the eye and sure to be a welcome addition to the next collection it enters.
