Obverse: Personification of Basel seated left, head uplifted, extending hand and resting elbow upon coat-of-arms; city ruins in background; Reverse: Legend and date in six lines within wreath. Edge: Plain. Glossy brown surfaces, with a great deal of brilliance radiating in the fields. This piece commemorates the 500th anniversary of the city's destruction following the devastating earthquake of 1356.
