ISLAMIC, Anatolia & al-Jazira (Post-Seljuk). Artuqids (Mardin). Qutb al-Din Il-Ghazi II, AH 572-580 / AD 1176-1184. Dirhem (Bronze, 33 mm, 13.73 g, 5 h), AH 577 = AD 1181/2. Two diademed and draped busts facing. Rev. Inscription in five lines, naming the Abbasid Caliph, al-Nâsir li'l-dîn and the titles and ancestors of Qutb al-Din Il-Ghazi, as well as a "curse formula" against counterfeiters. Album 1828.2. S&S type 32. Whelan Type I, 46-7. A pleasing example with strong details and attractive brown patina. Very fine.
