KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III 'the Great', 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 21 mm, 16.79 g, 1 h), struck posthumously under Antigonos II Gonatas, Pella, circa 280-275. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion's skin headdress. Rev. AΛEΞANΔΡOΥ Zeus seated to left on high-backed throne, holding eagle on his outstreched right hand and long scepter in his left; to left, bunch of grapes over ΠY monogram. Mathisen, Administrative, Group IV. Price 586. Attractively toned. Test cut on edge at 12h, otherwise, good very fine.
