BOEOTIA. Thespiai. Circa 210 BC. Unit (Bronze, 14.5 mm, 3.19 g, 12 h). Female (Arsinoe III) head to right, wearing modius and veil. Rev. ΘEΣΠI/EΩN Lyre; all within laurel wreath. BCD 612. SNG Copenhagen 406-407. Dark brown patina with light green and red earthen highlights. Good very fine.

Arsinoe III and her husband were supporters of the Mouseia, a Panhellenic festival that took place every four years at Thespiai. Probably to show their gratitude, Arsinoe was honored by the citizens by having her portrait on some of their coins.
