Plautilla (wife of Caracalla) Æ 24mm of Sicyon, Sicyonia. AD 202-205. [ΦOYΛBIA ΠΛAYTIΛΛA], draped bust to right with cornucopiae at left shoulder / [CIKYΩNIΩN], bridled horse walking to right, with a draped male bust (Zeus?) to right on its back. BCD Peloponnesos -; BCD Peloponnesos II -; BMC -; Roma e78, 867; CNG e254, 190. 4.38g, 24mm, 9h.

Near Very Fine. Extremely Rare; unpublished and only two other examples on CoinArchives.

From the inventory of a North American dealer.

This reverse type is similar to another unpublished coin of Plautilla sold by Nomos depicting a horse walking left instead of right and with a female head on its back (Nomos AG, obolos 5, 26 June 2016, lot 678). Their proposal that these two types should be understood as a pair in commemoration of a local festival honouring Zeus and Hera is an attractive explanation for these unpublished coin types.
