PHILISTIA (PALESTINE). Uncertain mint. Circa 420-400 BC. Obol (Silver, 8 mm, 0.68 g, 6 h). Head of Athena to right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with three olive leaves and palmette. Rev. Persian king or hero, holding dagger in his right hand, standing right, grasping lion standing right, head to left, at mane, between them, crescent (?). Gitler & Tal -. Cf. M. Johananoff: From Sidon to Samaria: Fourth-Century BCE Autonomous Coins of Samaria with Sidonian Motifs, in: INR 16 (2021), p. 21, C (for a similar design on an issue assigned to Samaria). Apparently unpublished and with interesting iconography. Some deposits and with a tiny test cut on the edge, otherwise, nearly very fine.
