SASANIAN KINGS. Khosrau I, 531-579. Drachm (Silver, 29 mm, 4.00 g, 3 h), LYW (Rew-Ardashir), RY 24 = AD 555. Draped bust of Khosrau I to right, wearing mural crown with fronted crescent, korymbos set on crescent; behind head, AFZUT ('may he increase' in Pahlawi) before head, HWSRWD ('Khosrau' in Pahlawi); before head, legend in Pahlawi; in upper left margin, countermark: crowned head to right within circular incuse. Rev. Fire altar flanked by two attendants; in upper left field, six-pointed star; in upper right field, crescent; to left, date; to right, LYW (name of the mint in Pahlawi). SSCT -. Struck from somewhat worn dies and with light scratches, otherwise, very fine.
