IONIA. Smyrna. Augustus, with Julia Augusta (Livia), 27 BC-AD 14. Assarion (Bronze, 20 mm, 5.36 g, 12 h), Leontiskos Hippomedontos, magistrate, circa 10 BC. ΣΕΒΑΣΤΩΙ ΖΜΥΡΝΑΙΟΙ Jugate laureate head of Augustus and draped bust of Livia to right. Rev. ΛΕΟΝΤΙΣΚΟΣ ΙΠΠΟΜΕΔΟΝΤΟΣ Aphrodite Stratonikis standing facing, leaning left on column, holding scepter in her right hand and Nike in her left; to right, dove left. RPC I 2466. An exceptional piece with a splendid glossy patina. The obverse struck slightly off center and with minor scratches on the reverse, otherwise, extremely fine.
