ASIA MINOR. Uncertain. Augustus, with Tiberius, 27 BC-AD 14. Hemiassarion (?) (Bronze, 17 mm, 6.57 g, 12 h), After 4 BC. [...] ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ Laureate head of Augustus to right. Rev. ΤΙΒΕΡΙΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ Bare head of Tiberius to right. Leu 4 (2019), 519 = RPC I online 5430C. Of the highest rarity, apparently the second known example. Light marks and some deposits, otherwise, very fine.

From a European collection, acquired before 2021.

Exactly where this coin was struck is unclear as it only bears the names and portraits of Augustus and his heir, Tiberius. It is somewhat reminiscent of RPC I 1565 from Thessalonika, but of smaller size and vastly different style. It probably originates, as this cataloguer suspects, from a mint in western Asia Minor.
