GREEK. Circa 4th-1st centuries BC. Weight (?) (Bronze, 20 mm, 13.66 g). Incuse bee. Rev. Blank. A beautiful piece with a wonderful rendering of a beee. Good very fine.
From a European collection, acquired before 2021.
Exactly what this object was made for is unclear. Its incuse image and blank reverse may indicate a die, perhaps for hammering jewelry; however, its relatively minor thickness argues against such a use and it perhaps served as a weight instead.
