LEVANTINE REGION. Uncertain, circa 1st to 3rd centuries AD. Uniface Plaquette (Bronze, 24 mm, 12.33 g). Male deity (Asklepios?) standing facing, holding uncertain object (patera?) in his right hand and leaning left on staff. Rev. Blank. Minor deposits, otherwise, very fine.


From a European collection, acquired before 2021.

Lacking recognizable attributes, the identity of the male deity on this lovely plaquette is unclear. His posture is that of Asklepios; however, there is clearly no serpent entwined around his staff.
