Nimbate bust of the Mother of God "Hodegetria" facing, wearing chiton and maphorion, pointing with her right hand towards Infant Christ seated on her left arm. Rev. +ΘKЄ R,/HΘ, IⲰ ЄΛЄ/O ΘV MHTP,/ΠOΛHT, Є/ΔЄC૪ ('Mother of God, help John, through the mercy of God metropolitan bishop of Edessa') in five lines. Unpublished in the standard references. Cf. DO Seals IV 73.3 for a seal of John, metropolitan bishop of Edessa, but with a different Mother of God type (Episkepsis). Thick deposits, otherwise, fine.
