THRACE. Byzantion. Late 3rd-2nd centuries BC. AE (Bronze, 25 mm, 9.17 g, 12 h), alliance issue with Kalchedon in Bithynia. Veiled head of Demeter to right, wearing wreath of grain ears. Rev. ΒΥZAN - KAΛΧΑ Poseidon seated right on rock, holding aphlaston in his right hand and trident in his left; in inner right field, ΗΡ. HGC 3.2, 1428. Schönert-Geiss 1263-70. SNG BM Black Sea 82 var. (differing monogram and reverse legend). Minor flan faults, otherwise, very fine.
