Caracalla, 198-217. Antoninianus (Silver, 24 mm, 5.21 g, 12 h), Rome, 216. ANTONINVS PIVS AVG GERM Radiate and draped bust of Caracalla to right, seen from behind. Rev. VENVS VICTRIX Venus standing front, head to left, holding Victory in her right hand and long scepter in her left, her left elbow resting on shield set on helmet. BMC 80. Cohen -, cf. 607 (bust draped and cuirassed). RIC 311d. An attractive example with an excellent, sharply struck portrait. Struck from a somewhat worn reverse die, otherwise, extremely fine.
