Herennius Etruscus, 251. Antoninianus (Silver, 21 mm, 3.23 g, 12 h), Rome, June-July 251. IMP C Q HER ETR MES DECIO AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust of Herennius Etruscus to right, seen from behind. Rev. PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS Herennius standing front in military attire, head to left, holding baton in his right hand and transverse spear in his left. Cohen -. Eauze -. RIC -, cf. 153A (differing obverse legend). RSC -. Apparently unpublished, an important discovery. Struck from a worn reverse die and somewhat porous, otherwise, good very fine.

From the collection of Dipl.-Ing. Adrian Lang, ex Leu Web Auction 19, 26-28 February 2022, 2876.

All coinage in the name of Herennius Etruscus as Augustus is very rare, making the emergence of this hitherto unpublished issue all the more exciting.
